Junior Fashion Designer

Purpose:

We’re looking for a passionate and creative Fashion Designer to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for a designer who is eager to grow their skills, contribute to all stages of the design process and help shape the future of our brand. As a key member of the design team, you’ll assist in concept development, sketching, fabric sourcing, sample development, and fittings. You’ll collaborate across departments to ensure each piece aligns with the brand’s vision, customer needs and brand goals. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a strong eye for detail, and is always one step ahead on trends and silhouettes.

Key responsibilities:

Design & Development:

  • Conceptualize, sketch, and design a range of activewear, performance clothing, and functional fashion accessories.
  • Translate creative concepts into detailed tech packs that guide production teams.
  • Research fabrics, trims, and techniques suitable for high-performance activewear.
  • Collaborate with the Design team to create seasonal collections that reflect global trends while maintaining the brand’s signature aesthetic.
  • Develop innovative designs that meet functional requirements for performance, comfort, and durability.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate tech packs, including sketches, measurements, materials, and construction instructions, ensuring clear communication with manufacturers.

Trend Research & Innovation:

  • Stay ahead of industry trends by researching global fashion movements, fabric innovations, and competitor activities.
  • Translate trends and insights into actionable design strategies to keep our collections at the forefront of the market.
  • Identify emerging trends in fitness, athleisure, and sports accessories, applying them creatively within the brand’s framework.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, merchandising, and production, to ensure cohesive and marketable product launches.
  • Work with the marketing team to provide input on product descriptions, campaign concepts, and photoshoot planning.
  • Provide design input for product launches, brand events, and social media campaigns.

Skills:

  • Creativity: Highly creative with a passion for fashion and fitness. Able to merge aesthetics with functionality.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate design ideas and collaborate with internal and external teams.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Trend Awareness: A deep understanding of current and future fashion trends, particularly in activewear, athleisure, and accessories.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail in design execution and production.

Qualification/s:

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 6 months - 3 years industry experience.
  • Expertise in design software such as Adobe Suite such as Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Ability to draw up CAD sketches/technical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of fabrics, garment construction, and technical specifications, particularly for sports and performance wear.

  • The position is full time (08:30 – 17:00)
